DRC, China Vow to Strengthen Strategic Partnership
(MENAFN) The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and China have vowed to strengthen their all-encompassing strategic partnership and broaden collaboration across various sectors, following high-level discussions between DRC officials and a senior Chinese political figure.
On Tuesday in Kinshasa, DRC President Felix Tshisekedi and Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka held separate talks with Qin Boyong, vice chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
Qin brought warm greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping and other top leaders, emphasizing China’s dedication to working alongside the DRC to implement agreements made by the two presidents and the outcomes from the recent Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit.
She highlighted China’s intent to intensify collaboration through the Belt and Road Initiative and to widen practical cooperation, aiming to elevate the China-DRC partnership to unprecedented levels.
Qin also updated the Congolese delegation on China’s economic advancements and modernization strides.
In turn, Tshisekedi and Tuluka asked Qin to extend their cordial regards to Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders, recognizing China’s enduring and invaluable support.
They voiced eagerness to deepen ties with China in sectors including trade, mining, and agriculture, among others.
The DRC leadership reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the one-China policy and expressed hopes for China’s swift national reunification.
Earlier, on Monday and Tuesday, Qin led a CPPCC delegation visiting the DRC, during which she also met with Modeste Bahati Lukwebo, the second vice president of the DRC Senate.
